Even though I have helped thousands of people to change since first completing my training in hypnosis in 2007, I am still amazed at the power of hypnotherapy to create powerful results and positive outcomes.
Like you right now, I once needed to find a hypnotherapist. I had an award-winning career and a large salary, but I also had a bad habit because of some trauma in my life. And for me, traditional therapy hadn’t worked.
So, on June 1, 2006, I started searching for hypnotherapy in London and found someone that I liked. I went to see them at their hypnotherapy practice – and my life instantly changed.
Over 50 years’ combined hypnotherapy experience
The following year, I started post-graduate training in clinical hypnotherapy. In 2010, I met my now therapy business partner, David Shephard, who is one of the best trainers in the world in hypnosis. Between us, we now have over 50 years of experience in hypnotherapy and members of the general hypnotherapy register.
Why hypnotherapy sessions are different
Hypnotherapy is completely different to the likes of CBT and psychotherapy. Think of the difference like this; imagine your broadband hub (your unconscious) isn’t working properly. A psychotherapist will try to help you understand why it isn’t working.
A therapist who has chosen to specialise in CBT, meanwhile, is going to help you to fix it yourself – which could take a little while.
Whilst useful and intellectually interesting, I don’t think my clients want that. In reality, they just want their problems – be that anxiety, they want to quit smoking or they need help with weight management – to be sorted out quickly. And hypnotherapy does exactly that. Effective treatment can really help you to cope, focus – and to be better at whatever you want.
Hypnotherapy targets a very specific part of the mind
Clinical hypnotherapy targets the part of the mind that regulates emotions and habits – it’s called your unconscious mind. This is a different part of the mind that is targeted by other therapies. When you’re hypnotised, you are:
- Totally aware and in control at all times – hypnotherapy deals with the unconscious, it doesn’t make you unconscious.
- I only work with clients I have great chemistry with – this means you’re likely to get a better result.
- I only work in the areas I have clinical expertise and experience. Most of my clients come to me to help them with anxiety-related issues. They feel that their mental health is suffering and are seeking solutions.
- You’ll be given a range of tools and techniques with which to stay calmer and in control after your session.
All you need for me to begin to help you is to be fully open and willing to try.
